The experience of Natural Tranquility.
Nestled in the heart of Abbotsford, just northeast of Melbourne's bustling CBD, Lulie Apartments emerges as a haven of refined living. Residents can tap into the suburb's relaxed, green spaces along the Yarra River while also able to enjoy Abbotsford's vibrant urban hubs, known for their eclectic mix of cafes, restaurants, boutique shops, and lively atmosphere. This project was conceived with a clear vision: to seamlessly blend the coveted livability of inner-city life with effortless access to both Abbotsford's lush green spaces and its vibrant urban atmosphere.
The Brief.
Collaborating closely with principal architect Metaxas, the design philosophy for Lulie Apartments was deeply inspired by the natural materials and textures found throughout leafy Abbotsford. The intention was to create residences that not only offer a luxurious experience but also resonate harmoniously with their surroundings.
Our aim was to inject a sense of 'quiet luxury' throughout the design – not just in look and feel but also ease of usability. The warm, inviting tones needed to both align with the architectural sophistication and leasing strategy, while still prioritising everyday functionality - we always keep how people will live in spaces front of mind. To take this project beyond its beautiful, natural materiality, we made thoughtful design decisions – details that truly enhance daily life.

Quiet Luxury in Design
The design philosophy for Lulie Apartments centred on the concept of 'quiet luxury' – an understated elegance achieved through both the selection of warm, inviting natural materials inspired by Abbotsford's surroundings and meticulously considered design details. This approach prioritizes not just aesthetics but also everyday functionality.
This layout optimises workflow and usability within the kitchen space, enhancing everyday functionality alongside features like thoughtfully scaled storage, silent door hardware for enhanced comfort, and intuitively placed power outlets. The result is a living experience that feels both sophisticated and effortlessly livable, where even the most practical aspects of the home are designed with intention and ease of use in mind.

Nature-Inspired Palette
In our material selection for Lulie Apartments, we embraced a 'less is more' philosophy to achieve a sophisticated and, most importantly, a timeless look and feel deeply connected to Abbotsford's natural environment. The refined palette features the subtle elegance of Grey Aether Marble, reminiscent of river stones, complemented by the sleek touch of Brushed Chrome accents, echoing modern urban elements, and the warm, natural texture of Ecru Oak veneer, directly inspired by the surrounding leafy trees.
