The experience of a casual country getaway.
A new type of place, for a new style of business, Trenta is a ten-level mixed use development in Cremorne Melbourne. Workplace design is changing, and smart business are thinking about how they can earn the commute from their people. Our focus was designing a place people genuinely want to be, where a workplace seamlessly connects with a vibrant hospitality and retail scene. Think working, wellness, dining, and drinks – all in one spot, making that commute worthwhile.
The Brief.
Our long-term clients, the Ktori Group, envisioned a Cremorne workplace far from the typical office. Inspired by boutique hotels and European hospitality, Trenta is developed for the business who value a lifestyle experience for their people.
Our master plan reimagines the traditional office tower, activating ground floor and rooftop spaces with easily navigable food & beverage and retail offerings. Our key focus was connection - a network of places not just for dining and enjoyment, but recovery, restoration. The activation of the street level providing green spaces to ultimately increase the buildings contribution to the public realm.
Project Highlights.
Connection to Street Level
One key strategy was setting the ground floor back to create a double height, covered public “piazza.” This distinctive feature immediately sets Trenta apart from typical office buildings in Cremorne. Building upon the area's established character, we chose a solid brick podium to frame the entryway, warmly inviting passers-by into the building. This thoughtful design ensures the ground floor retail and hospitality spaces enjoy a direct connection to the street, a crucial element in creating a high-performing asset for our clients.
From the outset, we collaborated closely with the clients and leasing team to meticulously plan the flow of movement from street level through the building to the rooftop, ensuring intuitive wayfinding and contributing to the project's long-term success.
The Internal Light Well
At the heart of our design approach is a commitment to bringing natural light deep into the building's core. We understand that daylight is vital for the health and happiness of those within a workplace. In this project, our solution is an internal light well, carefully designed to flood the floorplate with natural illumination. Complementing this, we partnered with a lighting specialist to fine-tune artificial lighting, ensuring consistent comfort and visual wellbeing for everyone.
Retail Strategy & Master-planning
Inspired by the vital role of the piazza as a city's social hub, Trenta's ground floor is designed as an active and inviting public space. We've strategically placed retail and food & beverage tenancies to create natural meeting points. Our priority was to equip operators with efficient spaces in a high-visibility location, making them easily discoverable and sought after by customers. Drawing on our deep understanding of hospitality operations, we rigorously planned test-fits for each tenancy to guarantee smooth and effective functionality upon opening.
