The experience of serenity and ritual 

JSY Tea's newest location at The Glen, embodies their core belief in "the quiet power of tea" as a daily ritual. The brand's aim: to deeply connect customers with the enriching journey of drinking tea. Working with our clients and collaborators we brought their brand to life over 3 key locations. Beyond the retail experience established in Doncaster and Chadstone, The Glen uniquely invites guests to pause, sit, and savors their tea, deepening their connection with the enriching journey of this beloved beverage. 

The Brief.

Building on the success of their Doncaster and Chadstone stores, also designed by AIR, we collaborated closely to seamlessly blend their established retail presence with a dedicated space designed for experiencing the hospitality of tea. 

While site constraints in the initial locations naturally placed the servery and point of sale along one side, the more expansive footprint at The Glen allowed for the introduction of table seating and a VIP tea tasting experience – a hospitality offering distinct from the primarily retail focus of the first two stores. 

Together with our clients and Trust Project, our builders, we crafted a calming space, that allows for both purchasing and drinking tea. Earthy warm tones and natural stone, paired with soft walnut timber and mood lighting, visually represent the brand's welcoming essence and offer a place to pause and enjoy tea.  

Project Highlights.

The Tea Tasting Experience station 

Dedicated to JSY Tea's most exquisite and rare selections, the Tea Tasting Experience station offers an intimate invitation to slow down and appreciate exceptional brews. This thoughtfully designed area encourages guests to linger, engaging their senses fully. Behind the tasting space, an elegant display subtly showcases the very rare teas being sampled and offering an opportunity for purchase.  

The Dining Area 

A thoughtful evolution from JSY's previous stores, this new seating area enhances the primarily retail experience and gives guests a comfortable spot to relax and enjoy their tea at their own pace.

"Building on the success of their tea shop, the client aimed to introduce a dine-in concept at the third JSY store. This necessitated a dual-purpose central counter, facilitating both retail sales and hospitality service from a single location.

Brand experience is everything and this realignment ensures the brand experience permeates every aspect of the service, from retail purchases to dine-in hospitality.

The Central Counter 

While showcasing the brewing process was always a goal, the floating stone counter commands the centre of the space, immediately drawing the eye to the art of tea preparation and customer service. Operationally, this hub allows staff to seamlessly manage both retail transactions and hospitality service – a crucial efficiency in a space of this scale. For customers, it’s a centrepiece, visible from all browsing areas, offering a captivating glimpse into the "activation" of JSY Tea's offerings. Retail shelving, the inviting dining area, and the exclusive VIP tasting experience all radiate from this central island, unified by the brand's signature banners overhead.
